Former hostage Guy Gilboa-Dalal has revealed the intense psychological tactics used by his captors in the final hours before his release from captivity. He described how he was initially given hope of imminent freedom, only to be told the next morning that he would not be released and that his own country had abandoned him. This emotional manipulation left him preparing for a much longer ordeal, until he was suddenly told to get ready for release just hours later.
Gilboa-Dalal also shared the pain of being separated from his close friend, Evyatar David, and the overwhelming emotions of their reunion after both were freed. During his time in captivity, he was forced to serve as a human shield and to write letters to his loved ones, which he believed would never be delivered. To his surprise, those letters did reach his family and provided them with comfort during his absence.
