A dead flying neon squid measuring about a meter in length was discovered washed up on Kfar Galim beach near Haifa by a marine expert. The find is notable because this species, while common in many seas, is rarely seen in the Mediterranean. The squid, identified as Ommastrephes bartramii, is known for its ability to swim rapidly and even leap out of the water. Its presence on the beach offered a rare glimpse into the hidden diversity of marine life along Israel's coast.
