A new report reveals that Israel wasted 2.6 million tons of food in 2024, amounting to nearly 40 percent of all food produced in the country. Despite a decrease in per capita food waste, the overall volume remains high due to population growth and increasing living costs. The financial impact of this waste is significant, with losses totaling more than seven billion dollars, and households alone accounting for nearly three billion dollars in wasted food. Meanwhile, around one and a half million people in Israel continue to face food insecurity, struggling to access enough nutritious food each month.
