On Thursday night, Israeli troops from the 55th Reserve Brigade conducted an operation in southern Syria targeting members of the Jaama Islamiya terrorist organization. The suspects were believed to be planning attacks against Israeli civilians in the Beit Jinn area. During the mission, armed terrorists opened fire on the soldiers, prompting a firefight and aerial support. Several Israeli reservists were injured, with two officers and one soldier sustaining severe injuries, while others were moderately or lightly wounded. All injured personnel were evacuated for medical treatment, and their families have been informed.
The operation resulted in the apprehension of all suspects and the elimination of several terrorists. Military forces remain stationed in the region and have pledged to continue efforts to counter threats against Israel and its citizens.
