Young doctors serving in the Israeli military have shared their experiences of saving lives on the front lines during the conflict in Gaza. Fresh from medical school, these physicians faced the harsh realities of war, treating hundreds of wounded soldiers and coping with the loss of friends. Some doctors were injured multiple times, while others had to make the difficult decision to declare hostages dead. Despite the trauma, many expressed a sense of duty and connection to their comrades, with one noting the bittersweet feeling of moving from active combat to debriefing.
After sixteen months of intense fighting, these medical officers have come full circle, witnessing both tragedy and moments of hope. One poignant example was the return of a soldier to his home, accompanied by the brigade's medical officer who had cared for him throughout the conflict.
