Rabbi Eli Schlanger, a prominent figure in Sydney's Jewish community, was among the 15 victims of a recent antisemitic terror attack in the city. Schlanger, who had served the community since 2007 and organized the annual 'Chanukah by the Sea' event, had recently hosted a memorial for victims of the 2008 Mumbai attacks. He is survived by his wife, five children, parents, and eight siblings. The Sydney attack, considered the country's deadliest in decades, is believed to have been carried out by a father and son of Pakistani origin, though police have yet to confirm their identities.
