Boris and Sofia, a devoted couple from Bondi, have been remembered for their bravery and selflessness after they attempted to stop a gunman during a violent attack. Witnesses described how Boris confronted the attacker head-on, trying to wrestle away the weapon despite the imminent danger, ultimately losing his life in the process. The attack, which authorities have called a terrorist incident targeting the Jewish community, claimed the lives of several others, including a young girl, a rabbi, a retired police officer, and a Holocaust survivor, with victims ranging in age from 10 to 87.

In addition to Boris and Sofia's actions, another bystander, Ahmed al Ahmed, was praised for his courage after he managed to disarm one of the attackers, sustaining serious injuries but surviving after surgery. The community continues to mourn the loss of those killed and recognize the heroism of those who risked their lives to protect others. Twenty-two people remain hospitalized, nine in critical condition, as the investigation into the tragedy continues.
