Turkey is reportedly seeking to return the Russian-made S-400 air defense systems it acquired nearly a decade ago, in hopes of resolving a longstanding dispute with the United States and regaining access to the American stealth fighter program. President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is said to have raised the issue with Russian President Vladimir Putin, though the Kremlin denies any such request was made. The move comes amid renewed pressure from Washington and could lead to the lifting of sanctions on Turkey's defense industry, as well as its reinstatement in the fighter jet program. Turkish officials are also reportedly negotiating a refund or credit for the costly missile system, potentially offsetting energy imports from Russia.
