USPS shares deadline if you want packages to arrive by Christmas

The United States Post Office has announced key shipping deadlines to ensure packages arrive before Christmas. For most states, gifts and cards sent via Ground Advantage or First-Class Mail should be shipped by December 17, while Priority Mail and Priority Mail Express have later deadlines of December 18 and December 20, respectively. Deadlines differ for Alaska, Hawaii, and international destinations, with some requiring shipments as early as December 2.

Experts also caution against gifting self-improvement items, such as weight-loss teas or gym memberships, as these can make recipients feel judged rather than appreciated. A recent study found that people respond less positively to such gifts compared to neutral alternatives.

Travelers are warned to pack smartly when flying with Christmas presents, as certain items may incur extra fees or be confiscated at airport security. Beauty sets, toy weapons, and full-size bottles of alcohol are among the items to avoid, and experts recommend not wrapping gifts before traveling to ease security inspections.
