Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has issued a stern warning to protesters, vowing that the Islamic Republic will not yield amid escalating nationwide unrest. In a televised speech, Khamenei accused foreign-backed elements of seeking to destabilise Iran and directly targeted Donald Trump, claiming the US president's hands are stained with the blood of Iranians and predicting his eventual downfall.
Khamenei urged unity among Iranians and condemned demonstrators for allegedly damaging public property to please foreign powers. His remarks come as Iran faces its largest wave of protests in years, sparked by economic grievances and spreading across all provinces.
Authorities have imposed a sweeping internet blackout, leaving the country largely isolated and making it difficult to assess the full scale of the unrest. Rights groups report dozens killed and thousands detained, while opposition figures abroad call for renewed demonstrations. State media has blamed foreign agents for the violence, acknowledging casualties but withholding details.
