The World Jewish Congress has welcomed the United States' announcement to move forward with the second phase of President Donald Trump's plan to end the conflict in Gaza. The organization praised the diplomatic efforts that led to the release of hostages and a ceasefire, but emphasized that closure cannot be achieved until the body of Ran Gvili, the last remaining hostage, is returned from Gaza.
The newly launched phase focuses on establishing a transitional technocratic administration in Gaza, demilitarization, and reconstruction. The United States has called for full compliance from Hamas, including the immediate return of Ran Gvili, warning of serious consequences for non-compliance.
Ran Gvili's family reiterated that their primary concern remains his return, stating that no political or administrative developments will distract from this goal. Efforts to recover his body continue through intelligence, operational actions, and mediation, with clear demands made to Hamas.
