The United Nations has warned that clearing the massive amount of rubble in Gaza could take over seven years, with more than 60 million tons of debris left from ongoing conflict. UN Under-Secretary-General Jorge Moreira da Silva described the devastation as overwhelming, noting that essential infrastructure such as homes, schools, and hospitals has been destroyed or severely damaged. The humanitarian crisis is worsening, with harsh winter conditions adding to the suffering of residents, especially children, who face the risk of becoming a 'lost generation' due to prolonged trauma and lack of education. Moreira da Silva emphasized the urgent need for fuel to support basic services and called for improved humanitarian access and a political solution to the conflict. Meanwhile, United States President Donald Trump announced the start of the second phase of the Gaza peace plan, backing a new Palestinian Technocratic Government to oversee the region's transition, with support from several regional nations.
