Amid tensions surrounding the Draft Law, Yitzhak Goldknopf, chairman of United Torah Judaism, announced that his party may oppose the state budget if it includes measures that penalize Torah students. Goldknopf emphasized that the party's stance is guided by the instructions of its spiritual leaders, who have directed them to resist any sanctions against Torah learners. He stated that the party will consult with senior rabbis on whether to vote on the budget before the draft law is addressed, and will act according to their guidance.
Goldknopf also reiterated his controversial comparison of the proposed sanctions to the yellow badge Jews were forced to wear during the Holocaust, insisting that the economic impact on the haredi community is severe. He highlighted that the lack of affordable childcare and rising daycare costs are worsening the situation for families of Torah students.
