In a letter to Senate leadership, council members also cited Sanders's public statements on current conflicts, which they argue are inconsistent with the principles of Holocaust remembrance and genocide prevention. Sanders has recently drawn attention for his criticism of Israeli policy and his use of the term 'genocide' to describe the situation in Gaza, as well as his efforts to block American arms transfers to Israel.
