Defense Minister Israel Katz is blocking Zamir's preferred candidate and is pushing for his own military secretary to be appointed instead. In the interim, Tishler will oversee operational and strategic coordination with Washington, a role that overlaps with his responsibilities as the designated Air Force commander. Tishler recently accompanied Zamir on a visit to Washington, joining high-level meetings with American military officials.
