Several Palestinian men detained by United States immigration authorities were deported to the West Bank using a private jet owned by Israeli-American property tycoon Gil Dezer, a longtime associate of President Donald Trump, according to a report by The Guardian. This marked the second instance of such deportations, with previous flights documented by Israeli media. The operation, described as secretive, involved coordination with Israeli authorities and utilized private aviation companies frequently contracted by United States agencies.
Human rights advocates criticized the use of private jets for deportations, highlighting concerns about lack of transparency, due process, and family separations. One deported man, Maher Awad, recounted his abrupt removal from his life in Michigan and the difficulties faced upon arrival in the West Bank, where he and others were left without support or contact with their families. The cost of these flights reportedly reached up to half a million dollars, though officials declined to provide specific figures. Neither Israeli nor United States authorities offered detailed comments on the operation.
