Two F-22 Raptor stealth jets, initially planned for the Super Bowl LX flyover, were withdrawn due to increased operational demands, according to the Air Force. Organizers had hoped to showcase fifth-generation aircraft from both the Air Force and Navy, but shifting military priorities led to the reassignment of the Raptors. The flyover will now feature a diverse lineup of aircraft, including B-1B Lancer bombers, F-15C Eagles, Navy Super Hornets, and F-35C Lightning II fighters, representing 250 years of American airpower.
Officials emphasized that these ceremonial flyovers also serve as valuable training exercises for military crews and maintainers, replicating real-world scenarios without additional taxpayer cost. The event highlights the adaptability of military resources and the ongoing commitment to readiness, even during high-profile public events like the Super Bowl.
