The United States has announced the launch of the Tech Corps initiative at the India Artificial Intelligence Impact Summit 2026. Introduced by President Donald Trump's technology adviser Michael Kratsios, the programme will operate under the Peace Corps framework and aims to promote American artificial intelligence technologies abroad. It will deploy skilled volunteers to help partner countries adopt and implement advanced artificial intelligence systems across key sectors.
Tech Corps will recruit engineers and graduates in science, technology, engineering and mathematics to provide last-mile support in areas such as agriculture, education, healthcare, manufacturing and transportation. Volunteers will serve overseas for 12 to 27 months or participate virtually, receiving housing, healthcare and service awards. In-person deployments are expected to begin in fall 2026.
The initiative is linked to the American Artificial Intelligence Exports Program, which packages American hardware, cloud infrastructure, artificial intelligence models and cybersecurity tools for partner nations. Officials said the effort supports artificial intelligence sovereignty, defined as a country's ability to manage and regulate artificial intelligence within its own framework while using advanced technologies.
India has joined the exports programme and is also set to participate in the United States led Pax Silica initiative focused on strengthening silicon supply chains. Alongside Tech Corps, the White House announced financing support through global institutions and a National Champions Initiative to integrate selected foreign companies into customised American export frameworks.
