Daniel Carmon, former Israeli Ambassador to India, expressed optimism about the progress of the proposed Free Trade Agreement between India and Israel. He noted a significant shift in India's trade approach under Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal, describing a more open stance toward expanding global trade partnerships.
Carmon emphasized that Israel's relatively small market should not be seen as a barrier to concluding the agreement swiftly. He suggested that the evolving trade outlook in India creates favorable conditions for strengthening economic ties between the two countries.
While the situation in the Gaza Strip may be discussed during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's upcoming visit, Carmon indicated that the primary focus would be on enhancing strategic and economic cooperation between India and Israel.
