Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will arrive in Israel for a two-day state visit marking his first trip since his groundbreaking 2017 visit. He will be welcomed at Ben-Gurion Airport by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu before holding meetings in Jerusalem, including a landmark address to the Knesset, making him the first Indian prime minister to speak before Israel's parliament.
The visit includes a technology showcase focused on artificial intelligence, quantum computing, and cybersecurity, as well as a formal dinner and a visit to Yad Vashem's Hall of Remembrance. Modi and Netanyahu are also scheduled to hold expanded bilateral talks followed by the signing of multiple agreements spanning defense, science and technology, agriculture, renewable energy, and economic cooperation.
A new defense framework is expected to broaden military collaboration and allow work on more sensitive technologies, reflecting rapidly growing arms trade between the two countries. Both sides are also advancing negotiations toward a free trade agreement and deepening cooperation through new centers of excellence and academic exchanges.
Israeli officials have framed the trip as elevating ties to special strategic relations, signaling one of the most significant upgrades in bilateral relations since full diplomatic ties were established in 1992. However, a political dispute within Israel over Modi's Knesset address could cast a shadow over the otherwise carefully choreographed visit.
