The Republic of Ireland's home Nations League match against Israel on 4 October will take place at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin, the Football Association of Ireland has confirmed. The decision follows earlier reports that the fixture might be moved to a neutral venue due to security concerns.
Belgium's recent home game against Israel had been relocated to Hungary, prompting speculation that Ireland might do the same. However, Irish police advised that the match can be staged safely in Dublin.
In a letter to the association's general assembly, president Paul Cooke said the decision was made after legal consultation, engagement with key stakeholders and consideration of constitutional obligations. He acknowledged that the move may be difficult for some supporters and said the association plans to use the fixture to support humanitarian efforts assisting civilians affected by the conflict.
