UK's Jeremy Corbyn set to be appointed parliamentary head of far-left Your Party

Jeremy Corbyn is set to become parliamentary head of Your Party, the far-left political movement he co-founded, after his faction secured a clear majority in elections for the party’s central executive committee. More than sixty percent of members participated in the vote, with Corbyn’s slate winning fourteen of twenty-four seats. The committee will now appoint key leadership roles within the party.

Corbyn said the result provides an opportunity to build a mass socialist movement to challenge Prime Minister Keir Starmer and the right-wing Reform United Kingdom party. Co-founder Zarah Sultana, whose faction won fewer seats, pledged to continue working toward a democratic, member-led party despite the setback. The party has faced internal disputes, allegations of sexism, and a legal disagreement between its founders over early fundraising.

Corbyn’s leadership continues to attract controversy over longstanding accusations of antisemitism, including claims tied to his past statements and associations during his time leading the Labour Party. He was suspended and later expelled from Labour following a report into the handling of antisemitism complaints and his decision to run as an independent candidate.

Most recently, Corbyn faced criticism after alleging that the Israel Defense Forces returned bodies to Gaza with organs removed, claims that Israeli officials strongly denied. The military said it operates under international law and that body returns are coordinated with the International Committee of the Red Cross.
