Russia has raised concerns about how United States President Donald Trump's newly formed Board of Peace would function alongside the United Nations Security Council. The questions come after Trump formally introduced the body at the World Economic Forum in January, following its initial proposal last September as part of his plan to address the war in Gaza.

The Board of Peace was later expanded to cover other global conflicts traditionally overseen by the United Nations. It held its first meeting in Washington earlier this month, with the United States currently the only permanent member of the Security Council to join. Russia, China, Britain, and France have not joined.

Russian foreign ministry official Kirill Logvinov said the board describes itself as a new international structure meant to replace mechanisms that have often proved ineffective. He also noted that its mandate does not explicitly mention Gaza and questioned how it would coexist with the United Nations and its Security Council, which is widely recognized as the primary body responsible for maintaining international peace and security.
