Jeremy Corbyn is expected to become the parliamentary leader of the leftist Your Party after his supporters secured control of the party’s central executive committee, according to the British Broadcasting Corporation. His faction, known as 'The Many,' won 14 of 24 seats, defeating candidates backed by former Labour member of Parliament Zarah Sultana.
Corbyn said members had voted for 'a mass, socialist party' prepared to challenge Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer and Reform leader Nigel Farage. Supporters have indicated they will formally elect him as parliamentary leader following their committee victory.
Corbyn, who led the Labour Party from 2015 to 2020 before resigning after a historic electoral defeat, was later barred from running as a Labour candidate. He subsequently ran as an independent and helped establish Your Party with Sultana. Both figures have drawn criticism for their strong anti Israel positions, with Sultana pledging to build an 'anti imperialist, anti Zionist' party and advocating for a halt to British arms sales to Israel.
