United States Vice President JD Vance said there is 'no chance' that any potential military strike on Iran would lead to a prolonged war in the Middle East. In an interview with The Washington Post, he said President Donald Trump could choose military action to prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon or continue pursuing diplomacy, emphasizing that both leaders prefer a diplomatic solution.
Vance, a Marine veteran of the Iraq War, reiterated his long‑standing skepticism of foreign military interventions, saying any decision would depend on Iran’s actions. He pointed to last year’s airstrikes on Iranian nuclear facilities as examples of limited, clearly defined operations.
Amid rising tensions, the State Department authorized the voluntary departure of nonessential personnel and families from Israel and advised citizens to consider leaving while commercial flights remain available. Meanwhile, diplomatic talks between the United States and Iran in Geneva ended without a final agreement, with mediators reporting progress but acknowledging that key differences over uranium enrichment and sanctions relief remain unresolved.
