Trump unhappy with Iran's conduct in nuke talks, but hasn't made decision on striking

President Donald Trump said he is dissatisfied with Iran’s conduct in ongoing nuclear negotiations after a third round of talks in Geneva, but has not decided whether to authorize military action. He said he does not want to use force, though he warned it may become necessary, and reiterated that Iran must not possess a nuclear weapon. Trump also signaled opposition to allowing Iran to enrich uranium at any level, calling for a complete halt.

Iran maintains that its nuclear program is for peaceful purposes and insists it has the right to enrich uranium for energy and medical needs. However, the United States and Israel remain skeptical, particularly after Iran enriched uranium to levels with no clear civilian use and limited international inspections. As tensions rise, American forces have increased their presence in the region, and several countries have issued travel warnings.

Oman, which is mediating the talks, has expressed optimism and said significant progress has been made. Omani Foreign Minister Badr Albusaidi stated that Iran has agreed not to stockpile enriched uranium and to convert existing stockpiles into irreversible fuel, calling it a breakthrough that could prevent war. Despite this, officials in Washington appear uncertain about whether negotiations will succeed, while diplomatic meetings with Israeli leaders are scheduled in the coming days.
