Yossi Hai Tahar chose a path of service and leadership despite the devastating loss of his brother Roi in a tragic accident. Determined to serve in a meaningful combat role in the Israel Defense Forces, he sought his parents' consent and successfully completed the demanding selection process for the naval commando unit. He went on to finish officers training as an outstanding officer.

In 2012, Yossi transitioned from the naval commando to the Shin Bet, where he quickly distinguished himself and rose through the ranks. His dedication and skill led to rapid advancement within the organization.

On the day he was killed, Yossi was serving as the deputy commander of the Shin Bet's most operational unit, marking the culmination of a career defined by resilience, commitment, and exceptional service.
