An El Al aircraft was forced to return to the air just one minute before landing after a missile was launched from Iran on Thursday morning. The incident occurred as the plane was approaching Ben Gurion Airport, where 17 flights are scheduled to land throughout the day.
Authorities are preparing to increase incoming flights starting tomorrow, with plans to double operations in order to bring as many Israelis home as possible. Officials estimate that under the current framework, all Israelis wishing to return could do so within seven to ten days.
Beginning Sunday, outbound flights will operate under strict limitations, with one flight per hour and a maximum of 50 passengers per aircraft. Passengers will not be permitted to check baggage, must complete early check-in, and are required to arrive 90 minutes before departure. Escorts will not be allowed inside the terminal, and departures will depend on aircraft arriving as part of the rescue operation.
