China has urged an immediate ceasefire in the escalating conflict involving Iran, warning that the flames of war could spread across the Middle East. Speaking in Beijing, Foreign Minister Wang Yi said the confrontation should never have occurred and called on all parties to return to dialogue rather than pursue military action.
Beijing presented itself as a stabilizing force amid rising tensions between Iran, the United States and Israel. The appeal comes ahead of a highly anticipated meeting between President Xi Jinping and President Donald Trump, with China signaling that it remains open to engagement with Washington despite ongoing geopolitical strains.
In addition to addressing the Middle East crisis, Wang said China and India should view each other as partners rather than rivals, underscoring Beijing’s push for improved regional and global cooperation.
