Israel and the United States appear to be gaining the upper hand in their conflict with Iran, raising questions about whether Iran’s powerful allies, China and Russia, might intervene. Since the fighting began, both Beijing and Moscow have publicly expressed strong political support for Tehran.
China condemned the killing of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, and reiterated its solidarity and friendship with Iran. Russia’s Foreign Ministry also criticized the actions of Israel and the United States, warning that continued aggression could destabilize the broader region.
Despite their vocal backing, direct military involvement from China or Russia appears unlikely. While both countries have strategic ties with Iran and share opposition to United States influence, entering the conflict militarily would risk significant escalation and broader global consequences.
