President Donald Trump said he is not worried about the possibility of Iran-backed attacks on American soil, speaking to reporters as he departed the White House. He claimed that United States forces destroyed nearly all of Iran’s mine-laying ships and much of its navy in a single night, asserting that the country’s military capabilities had been severely diminished.

Trump urged oil companies to continue using the Strait of Hormuz after Iran reportedly closed the passage with submarine mines. In response to fears of supply disruptions and rising energy prices, the International Energy Agency announced the release of about 400 million barrels of oil from reserves, more than double the amount released at the start of the 2022 war between Ukraine and Russia.

The president also highlighted discussions with fellow Group of Seven leaders, praising the strength of the United States military and saying Iran was facing consequences for decades of actions. He criticized Spain’s leadership for refusing to allow American forces to use its bases for a recent operation, while expressing support for the people of Lebanon and blaming Hezbollah for instability there.
