Police responded to reports of an active shooter at Temple Israel Synagogue in Detroit on Thursday, prompting a large emergency presence in the area.
Local media reported that nearby schools and houses of worship were advised to shelter in place as authorities assessed the situation. The Jewish Federation of Detroit said it was aware of a security incident at the synagogue and instructed Jewish organizations to enter a lockout protocol, restricting entry and exit from their buildings.
The situation remained developing, with officials expected to provide further updates as more information becomes available.
