An explosive device detonated at a synagogue in central Rotterdam in the early hours of Thursday morning, prompting a swift police response. No injuries were reported. Authorities later arrested four men from Tilburg after stopping a vehicle driving suspiciously near another synagogue, with the driver matching the description of a suspect linked to the earlier blast.
A newly identified Shi'ite group calling itself Ashab Al Yamim has claimed responsibility for the attack. The group has also reportedly targeted Jewish institutions in Belgium and Greece in recent weeks.
Police are investigating whether the suspects, aged 17 to 19, intended to carry out additional attacks. Security has been increased at synagogues across Rotterdam as concerns grow over a rise in threats against Jewish communities internationally following recent joint United States and Israeli operations against Iran.
