'Hunt and neutralize': IDF strengthens attacks against Hezbollah in Lebanon

The Israel Defense Forces have expanded ground operations and intensified artillery strikes against Hezbollah positions in southern Lebanon, following orders from Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Eyal Zamir. The campaign focuses on the Radwan Force, Hezbollah’s elite unit, after Israeli officials reported increased militant movement toward the border in recent days. Additional ground troops and armored vehicles have been deployed as part of preparations for a possible broader maneuver.

According to military data, roughly 400 Hezbollah operatives have been killed in recent months, including about 100 members of the Radwan Force and several field commanders. Israeli officials said the unit had previously planned cross-border raids into communities in the Galilee region. The intensified strategy, described as a 'hunt and neutralize' effort, aims to weaken the group’s operational capabilities in southern Lebanon.

While Israel continues its campaign in Lebanon, political leaders have identified Iran as the primary arena of confrontation, requiring operational adjustments to preserve resources. Recent missions under the name 'Fists of the Galilee' have involved coordinated infantry, armored, engineering, artillery, surveillance, and air units conducting targeted incursions. The military said it has taken steps to minimize civilian harm, including issuing evacuation notices and using precision-guided munitions, while accusing Hezbollah of embedding its infrastructure within civilian areas.
