The State of Israel is preparing for a potential escalation along its northern border, as the government is expected to consider approving a significant expansion of reserve mobilization. According to Kan 11 News, officials may raise the maximum reserve call-up quota to 450,000 soldiers, adding roughly 190,000 troops to the number authorized earlier this year.
The request from the Israel Defense Forces and the defense establishment is aimed at increasing operational flexibility ahead of a possible ground maneuver in Lebanon and to support a prolonged presence in hostile territory if required. The move follows intensified military activity in recent days, including the destruction of a strategic bridge over the Litani River.
Israeli officials are also seeking to widen the security buffer zone in southern Lebanon to push anti-tank and infiltration threats farther from northern border communities. The matter is being discussed with the United States administration as part of broader strategic coordination.
