President Isaac Herzog visited Ben-Gurion Airport to welcome Israelis returning on rescue flights amid the ongoing war with Iran. He described their return as 'an inspiring phenomenon,' highlighting the determination of citizens to come home despite the threat of shelling, sirens, and other dangers.
Herzog connected the homecomings to the upcoming holiday of Passover, drawing a parallel between the ancient exodus from Egypt and the modern return to Israel. He said the holiday this year carries special meaning as families reunite safely in their homeland.
The president thanked the Israel Airports Authority, airport leadership, Transportation Minister Miri Regev, and the Civil Aviation Authority for ensuring the airport remains operational during wartime. He also toured the control tower and received updates on ongoing operations and security challenges as military activity continues.
