United Arab Emirates authorities announced that they dismantled a terrorist network allegedly funded and operated by Lebanon's Hezbollah and Iran, arresting its members. According to the state news agency, the group was involved in money laundering, financing terrorism, and activities that threatened national security.
Officials said the network operated under a fictitious commercial cover to infiltrate the national economy and carry out external schemes aimed at undermining the country’s financial stability. There was no immediate response from Hezbollah or Iran regarding the allegations.
The announcement comes amid heightened regional tensions following the outbreak of war involving the United States, Israel, and Iran. Emirati officials report that hundreds of missile and drone strikes have targeted the country in recent months, hitting oil facilities, ports, and areas near major urban centers. Iran-backed Hezbollah has also been engaged in cross-border hostilities with Israel, prompting extensive Israeli airstrikes in Lebanon.
