The United States has intensified military operations to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, deploying A-10 Thunderbolt II aircraft and Apache helicopters to target Iranian fast-attack boats and drones. According to senior military officials, the low-flying aircraft are striking vessels that have been harassing commercial shipping along Iran’s southern coast.

The strategic waterway, which connects the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman, is essential to global oil shipments. Iran’s closure of the strait following the outbreak of war has driven oil prices above 100 dollars per barrel, raising concerns about international energy supplies and maritime security.

In recent days, United States forces have released video footage showing strikes on Iranian naval assets and missile sites near the strait. The administration of President Donald Trump is also reportedly considering further measures, including actions targeting Kharg Island, a key hub for Iran’s crude oil exports, as part of efforts to pressure Tehran to reopen the passage.
