A United Kingdom cabinet minister has said there is no assessment supporting Israel's claim that Iran possesses long-range missiles capable of striking London. Housing Secretary Steve Reed stated there is no specific assessment indicating that Iran is targeting the United Kingdom or that it has the capability to do so.
The comments follow a statement from the Israel Defense Forces asserting that Tehran holds weapons with a range of up to 4,000 kilometres. Reports also revealed that Iran targeted a joint United States and United Kingdom military base on the Chagos Islands in the Indian Ocean, located roughly 3,800 kilometres from Iran.
Reed declined to provide further details about how close any missiles may have come to British territory, citing the need to withhold operational information.
