Minister Miri Regev said in closed conversations that she believes Sara Netanyahu is a worthy candidate to light a torch at the upcoming Independence Day ceremony. Regev, who oversees the event, said she even considers the prime minister's wife deserving of the Israel Prize.
According to a recording broadcast by Kan 11 News, Regev praised Sara Netanyahu’s extensive social and community work. She highlighted her support for bereaved families, Holocaust survivors, and seriously ill children, as well as her role in supporting her husband and strengthening the resilience of the State of Israel.
Regev also commended Netanyahu’s participation in diplomatic meetings alongside the prime minister, describing her involvement as contributing to public diplomacy efforts on behalf of the country. Although Regev expressed strong support for the idea, she acknowledged that she has not yet spoken directly with Sara Netanyahu and does not know whether she would agree to the honor.
