Israel's National Cyber Authority has warned that Iran is intensifying its cyber campaign against Israel, describing it as a continuous war with no clear end. During Operation Roaring Lion, more than 50 offensive cyberattacks were recorded, carried out by about 20 groups involving hundreds of hackers. While major damage to critical infrastructure has been prevented, officials stressed that the threat remains constant.
According to the head of the authority, around 50 Israeli companies and organizations were completely digitally erased in recent attacks and are now restoring their systems from backups. The attackers are focusing not only on immediate disruption but also on intelligence gathering, targeting engineering firms, civilian infrastructure, security personnel, defense industries, and academic institutions. In some cases, hackers have also targeted family members of key individuals.
Authorities reported thousands of cyber incident inquiries since the war began, many involving social engineering attempts. Iran has also tried to seize control of public systems such as railway signs and security cameras, occasionally succeeding due to weak protection and poor passwords. Officials cautioned that even if fighting subsides on the ground, cyberattacks are expected to continue and may intensify.
