Israeli military officers say the Lebanese army misled them about efforts to disarm Hezbollah in southern Lebanon, claiming the area had been cleared while the armed group rebuilt its infrastructure. As Israeli forces renewed operations in the town of El Khiam, they reported discovering extensive militant positions, weapons, and underground facilities that they say prove no meaningful dismantling had taken place.

El Khiam, located on elevated terrain overlooking northern Israeli communities, has long been considered a strategic stronghold. Its position allows direct observation and fire toward nearby towns, making it a key site for anti tank squads, snipers, and rocket units. Israeli officers describe the town as a launch hub where fighters gather, arm themselves, and carry out attacks.

According to the Israeli military, engineering units have begun systematic demolitions aimed at uprooting all militant infrastructure, in what defense officials call a model for broader operations in southern Lebanon. Commanders warn that the threat of cross border raids and missile attacks remains, with El Khiam serving as a staging ground for elite Hezbollah forces.
