Marius Garder has resigned with immediate effect as chairman of the board of the Jewish community in Oslo, a role he took on in November 2024 after previously serving as deputy chairman and treasurer. In a letter to members, he announced that he was stepping down and ending his membership in the community.
His departure follows nearly a year of internal tensions within the organization. Anonymous members previously sent a strongly worded letter to community leaders raising concerns about Garder, including questions about the accuracy of details related to his education and his Jewish ancestry. The letter also expressed doubt about the existence of a doctoral degree he had claimed.
