The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps has threatened to target United States universities operating in the Middle East in response to what it described as joint United States and Israeli strikes on two Iranian universities. The group said the attacks destroyed facilities and warned of retaliation if the United States government does not formally condemn the bombings by midday Monday, Tehran time.
In a statement carried by Iranian media, the force urged staff, professors, students, and nearby residents of American university campuses in the region to remain at least one kilometer away from the sites. The warning raises concerns for several United States institutions with campuses across the Gulf region.
Iranian reports said overnight strikes from Friday to Saturday damaged buildings at the University of Science and Technology in northeastern Tehran but caused no casualties. The situation adds to heightened tensions in the region as threats of further action continue to escalate.
