Police released footage showing the arrest of a 20-year-old suspect accused of stabbing Ramat Gan Religious Council Chairman Gedalyahu Ben Shimon and severely wounding him three weeks ago. The video captures officers from the Bnei Brak and Ramat Gan station locating and confronting the suspect, who denied involvement during the arrest.
According to investigators, the suspect attempted to conceal evidence after the attack by discarding the sweatshirt he wore and trying to dispose of the knife used in the stabbing. Officers conducted a thorough search of his escape route and recovered key evidence, including the weapon.
Prosecutors have filed a serious indictment charging the suspect with attempted murder under aggravated circumstances. The indictment states that the stabbing was carried out with a nationalist motive and with the intent to harm an Israeli citizen.
