Israel has said it will accept any decision made by United States President Donald Trump regarding the next phase of the war with Iran, according to an Israeli official. The official indicated that a decision on a ceasefire could come quickly if Trump receives signals from mediators that an agreement is close.

The official described Trump as currently pursuing what he called negotiations under fire, while keeping the option to shift direction within days. Israel’s position, the official added, is to continue military operations for as long as possible in order to destroy additional targets and push Iran further away from developing nuclear weapons and ballistic missiles.
