Israeli forces came under heavy fire during a deadly battle in a village described by the military as heavily infiltrated by Hezbollah fighters. The commander of the Nahal Brigade and the commander of a reconnaissance battalion were positioned at the front when the clash erupted, as troops worked to evacuate wounded soldiers and recover the dead under active fire.
During the rescue efforts, Hezbollah fighters launched an anti tank missile at the troops, though it failed to hit its target. Military officials said airstrikes have been carried out continuously in the area, but emphasized that ground forces remain necessary to capture and secure key strategic positions.
According to the military, troops are advancing cautiously in formations that prioritize security over speed. In the course of the ground operations, forces reported seizing significant quantities of weapons, including rocket propelled grenades, heavy machine guns and ammunition.
