Argentinian President Javier Milei visited the Hebron Yeshiva in the Givat Mordechai neighborhood of Jerusalem, where he was welcomed by the institution's leaders and hundreds of students. During the visit, he entered the women's gallery and waved to the students gathered below.
The head of the yeshiva, Rabbi Yosef Chevroni, addressed the president in Hebrew, praising him and noting the historic legacy of the yeshiva as part of a chain of Jewish tradition spanning thousands of years. Milei introduced his personal rabbi, Axel Wahnish, who also serves as Argentina's ambassador to Israel, drawing applause from the audience.
Despite the warm reception, the visit sparked criticism within the Torah community. Some objected to the event taking place during an active study session, arguing that it disrupted learning and altered the atmosphere of the study hall. Critics suggested the reception could have been held in a different location to avoid interrupting religious study.
