Sweden's security services have warned of heightened threats against American, Jewish and Israeli interests, as well as Iranian opposition figures living in Sweden, following the outbreak of a new war in the Middle East. The warning comes amid growing regional instability triggered by recent military strikes involving the United States and Israel against Iran.

According to the head of operations at the Swedish Security Service, the increased risk is directed more at specific foreign-linked individuals and institutions than at Sweden as a nation. Iranian dissidents considered influential or threatening to the Iranian leadership may be particularly vulnerable.

Authorities have strengthened protective measures around potential targets, including embassies. The agency also cautioned that the conflict could have significant consequences for security across Europe.

Swedish intelligence has previously identified Iran, China and Russia as major security threats. Officials allege that Iran has used criminal networks in Sweden to carry out violent acts against Israeli and other interests, and have warned of cyberattacks, surveillance and efforts to pressure individuals into providing information, as well as attempts to acquire sensitive technology and expertise.
