Once Trump-aligned podcasts are warning he's losing his coalition over broken promises

Several prominent podcasters who were credited with helping Donald Trump win the 2024 election are now warning that his coalition is fracturing over the war in Iran. Many of these media figures supported Trump because of his anti-war message and appeal to young male voters, but they now argue that his actions contradict his campaign promises.

Joe Rogan questioned the rationale for the conflict and suggested voters feel betrayed by what they see as a reversal of pledges to avoid foreign wars. Dave Smith said the coalition that delivered Trump the popular vote and key swing states has been 'destroyed' by the war, warning that Republicans could face serious losses in the midterm elections. Theo Von and Andrew Schulz also criticized the conflict, asking how it benefits ordinary Americans struggling with everyday expenses.

Other comedians, including Tim Dillon, described the war as a potential death blow to the broader political movement that formed around Trump’s promises to challenge entrenched power. In response, the White House defended the president’s actions, saying he is fulfilling his pledge to prevent Iran from developing a nuclear weapon and is acting in the country’s best interest regardless of shifting political opinion.
